Who We ARe

We at the Department of Justice are composed of a few major branches. The Committee of Oversight is the highest branch of the Department of Justice, in charge of the oversight of the subsequent branches. The rest of the branches are: The Judicial Council, The District Attorney's Office, The Union of Independent Attorneys, and the Office of the Governor.



Each branch has their own respective responsibilities and duties. Those duties will be outlined below.


The Committee of Oversight

The Committee of Oversight is the governing body of the Department of Justice, and is the final interpreters and decision makers of the Bar Association. 

Designation Definition
1. Princeps Advocatus
  • The primary chair within the committee.
  • Tasked with managing agendas, assignment of talking times and organizational patterns of the assembly of the committee, and the primary representative who addresses the committee. 


2. Consiliarius
  • Members of the committee who are tasked with the involvement of assemblies, decisions, and representing the interests of the Bar Association.
3. Arbiters
  • Temporary and/or Permanent member(s) of the committee whose purpose is to be the final vote(s) in a split decision, and to settle disputes.

The Judicial Council

The Judicial council is the body of Judges within the Bar Association responsible for overseeing cases, interpreting the law, and analyzing the facts presented in the matters under their jurisdiction.

Designation Definition
1. Superior Judge
  • Tasked with the management of the Judicial Council. Ensures the proper distribution and delegation of cases to Judges and oversees any primary appeals or review requests.


2. District Judge
  • Tasked with overseeing caseloads within their respective districts. Can petition to oversee any case or be assigned by their Superiors.  



The District Attorney's Office

The District Attorney’s Office is the body that represents the State and its interests in any court proceeding. It is the job of the District Attorney’s Office to ensure that all those guilty are brought to justice.

Designation Definition
1. The District Attorney
  • Tasked with the management of the District Attorney’s Office, Ensures the proper distribution of cases, and is the final say on the pursuing of any charges brought.


2. Assistant / Deputy District Attorneys
  •  Assistant to the District Attorney, assists with any tasks necessary, including representation in the courts, and delegation of caseloads.
3. Prosecutor 
  •  A Prosecuting attorney who represents the State in court and follows the direction of their superiors within the District Attorney’s Office.

The Union of IndepeNDENT Attorneys

The Union of Independent Attorneys are the grouping of Bar Association members who practice the law, provide advice, and protect the interests of their clients.

Designation Definition
1. Public Defender
  • Tasked with representing their clients and are usually assigned cases by random draw. 


2. Private Attorney
  •   Tasked with representing their clients and have ultimate say over their personal caseloads, can start firms, and choose their clients.

  • A Private Attorney can be called to be a public defender in the case that no public defenders are available for the case and will be duly compensated by the State.



The Office of the Governor

The Office of the Governor is the grouping of the Governor and all of its necessary employees in charge of the maintenance of the government, being a representative of the people, and being a Governing body within the State of San Andreas.

Designation Definition
1. The Governor
  • The Primary Governor, In charge of all Governor Duties, Taxation, Representing the People, Working with the Committee on Bills, Laws, etc.


2. Public Relations Officer
  • A support staff member of the Governor, In charge of handling all Public Relations Matters, Including making Press Releases, Right hand to the Governor.
3. Administrative Assistant
  • In charge of scheduling meetings, representing the Governor at the front desk of the Department of Justice building. Liaison between the Governor and all private person(s) in the chain of command.
